こちらは名古屋港水族館のマイワシがたくさんいる水槽です。
数え切れないほどのマイワシ。
一匹一匹はとても小さいイワシですが
群れを成して大きな一つの生き物のように
等間隔で綺麗に列をなして
蠢いている。すごいな。
大きな魚が来ると
その部分だけ綺麗に避けていく。
この群れってポジションどうなっているんだろうか？
先頭にいるイワシは意図してそこにいるんだろうか？
なんか見ていると
いろんなことが頭をよぎりますが
近くで見ていると
なんか圧倒されます。
This is the tank filled with Japanese sardines (maiwashi) at the Port of Nagoya Public Aquarium.
Countless sardines.
Each one is tiny on its own, but as a school, they move together like a single large living creature.
They swim in neat, evenly spaced rows, twisting and turning in perfect harmony—it’s incredible.
When a larger fish approaches, they gracefully part and flow around it without breaking formation.
I can’t help but wonder— how is their positioning within the school decided? Do the sardines at the front choose to be there on purpose?
As I watched, so many thoughts ran through my mind, but standing there up close, I felt completely overwhelmed.
